Small and Disadvantaged Business Outreach Events Scheduled for Convention Center’s Capital Improvement Plan

Informational session set for October 18

NEW ORLEANS – The Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority (the Authority), in partnership with the AECOM Hunt-Broadmoor joint venture, will host a series of outreach events beginning on October 18, 2022, to engage and inform the small and disadvantaged business community on upcoming contract opportunities from construction projects at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Consistent with the Authority’s goal, 30% of contracts will be available for Small and Emerging Businesses/Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (SEB/DBE). To ensure maximum and meaningful opportunities for SEB/DBEs, the outreach series begins with a Construction Kick-Off meeting on October 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. in the Rivergate Meeting Room at The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (Julia Street entrance).

The meeting will cover the steps to bidding as a prime contractor, pre-qualification, risk assessment, and insurance and bonding requirements. Team members for this phase of construction will be on hand to answer questions.

Interested businesses should register at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QPRNN38.
Following the Construction Kick-Off meeting, there will be a workshop on the Roof Replacement project on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 10 a.m. in the Rivergate Meeting Room. As construction projects progress, workshops will be planned in 2023 for the interior construction stage and in 2024 for the final construction stage. As information becomes available, updates on outreach events will be shared on exhallnola.com.

Businesses seeking Hudson-certified Small and Emerging Businesses (SEB) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) certifications may do so through the following certifying agencies: the Louisiana Department of Economic Development as the authorizing agent for SEB designation or through City of New Orleans, the New Orleans Aviation Board or the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for DBE designation.

The Authority selected AECOM Hunt-Broadmoor, as its Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for the final planning, development and construction of the major upgrades remaining of the $557 million Capital Improvement Plan approved in 2018.
